Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Field &Flour is here to help! In this 1.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics to sugar cookies (it is beginner-friendly!), do some piping practice with royal icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided in class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
We’ll be building a sweet series of hearts during this 1 hour 30 minute cookie decorating class! Don’t miss out on this fun 6-cookie, 4-icing class – You’ll “love” everything about this class!
We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate! Bonus? You will get special packaging to gift your edible works of art to your gal-entine, valentine, or anyone ready to be dazzled by your skill.

WHO: This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We’ll be creating a beautiful set of heart-shaped cookies just in time for Valentine’s day! But tickets will sell out fast, you don’t want to be left feeling unloved – so sign up ASAP!
TIMES: This class is on February 8 and starts at 10:30 AM sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 20 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
AGES: This class is good for ages 12+. You know your kid best, if they love arts and crafts and can stay on task (while BUSY) for an hour, happy to see them. Kids 12-13 need to have an adult with them to actively supervise. If the supervising adult want to help with decorating, there is an add-on cost for a shared kit.
If you'd like to purchase an add-on kit to work on at home, there’s more on that below! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!
LOCATION: The class will be held at the Kirkendall Public Library in Ankeny, Iowa located at 1250 SW District Dr, Ankeny, IA 50023. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy - there is a whole lot behind the building!
What will I bring home?
By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!
Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?
You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 20 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!
I signed up for a class but can't make it?
:( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 7 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to 1-year from the credit issue date for a future class.
What to bring
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
